Plumbing - PEX Clamp Connector Step by step
PEX Clamp Connections
PEX clamp connections are another popular method for joining PEX tubing, and they're known for their reliability and ease of use. Here's how to make a PEX clamp connection:
Cut the PEX tubing: Use a PEX cutter to ensure a clean and even cut. Make sure the cut is perpendicular to the tubing.
Slide the PEX clamp ring: Slide a stainless steel PEX clamp ring over the tubing, positioning it roughly 2 inches from the end.
Insert the PEX fitting: Fully insert the PEX fitting into the tubing, ensuring that the tubing is flush against the fitting’s shoulder.
Position the clamp ring: Slide the clamp ring over the tubing so that it’s centered over the fitting’s barbs.
Clamp the ring: Use a PEX clamp tool to compress the clamp ring. Place the tool’s jaws over the small tab on the clamp ring and squeeze the handles until the ring is fully compressed.
Check the connection: Verify that the ring is securely clamped and that the connection is tight by visually inspecting and gently pulling on the fitting.
PEX clamp connections are versatile and work with all types of PEX tubing (A, B, and C). The stainless steel clamp rings are resistant to corrosion and provide a strong, durable connection.
